Coach's Corner

After round three the A grade are off too their best start in years with 3 solid wins.Another good win against SHOC at Silverstream #1 should have them sitting on top of the ladder. Captain Stuat Stratfold is leading the way with the bat with some very good scores and a well complied 93 against SHOC should have been rewarded with a ton. He has been supported well by Peter Box, Travis Wordsworth and Carlo Manno has scored well in his 2 games. All Batsmen are getting starts something that was lacking last year after losing a few early wickets.

Josh Hallion is starting to find some form with the ball and if he continues to improve as the year passes should be in for another good year. Jeremy Clement is bowling well without luck and continues to apply solid pressure to all batsmen. Peter Box is also starting to improve his line and his GRUNT ball still suprises most batsman and reminds his team mates of some tennis player. Steve Gray is settling into the opening bowling position and will be missed when he departs for 3 months overseas with work.

Overall the A"s seem to be starting to gell well together and the atmosphere and comraderie is good to see

The B grde had another good win against SHOC and were unlucky not to come away with an outright win. After bowling SHOC out for 67, with Dan Neuman taking 5 wickets and Jason green 3. B"s made 113 with the bat with Jason Green compiling a well made 22. SHOC batted for a second time and were dismissed or 114 with Matt Norris taking 4 wicket ably supported by Jason Green and Dan Neuman. The B"s were unlucky in falling 4 runs short in the run chase, but now stand at 2 wins and a loss and should coninue to improve as the year progresses.

The C grade played Penfield at home and were very under manned playing 5 17's. Although Penfield scored 280 the C's didnt give in with Gilly giving all the youngsters a chance to show what they have and push for a position as the team strenghens. Batting for a first time the C's were out for 68 with Aaron Billet scoring a well complied 30 runs. Although other batsmen showed determination they were all out for 67.

Penfield enforced he follow on and the lads knuckled down and while they lost 6 wickets along the way they avoided the outright and can be pround of themselves.

Wit ha number of players due back for the next roud the C"s should strengthen the batting line up and be more competitive.

The D grade are flowing along merrily at the moment with 3 wins and a loss.

Friday night seen them take on Kilburn under light for the second time in 3 weeks. The D"S batted first and made o well complied 9/170 of their 40 overs. Aaron Manning made another good score with 43 and Shaun O'Conner made38 with Tickets Toovey 23.

The Kilburn innings started badly especially if you were from Kilburn. Duncan Cambell and Daniel Masefield opened the bowling and reduced the home side to 7 for not many quickly. Kilburn wer eventually allout for 43 with Duncan taking a well deserved 5/11 and Mase 4/20.

Congratulations to all winning side from the weekend.

Not having all the information but I here young Kieran Watson made a ton in the Under 15"s in a losing side so congratulations to him and good to see the young boys improving. As they continue to train with the senior sides they will improve and the future of the club will be assured
